Brut Sparkling - Pop your favorite sparkling as guests arrive, with hors d’ouerves, with anything on the table or as palate cleanser between courses! We’re a firm believer that bubbles are fitting for almost all foods and occasions. 3 Parks recommends Simmonet Febvre Cremant de Bourgogne, or splurge on fine Champagne like Champagne Delamotte or Ruinart Blanc de Blanc.
Rose or Red Sparkling - Pink or red bubbles are a fun, festive option with nice bright red fruit that would be perfect for charcuterie, ham, hard cheeses or anything with a tomato sauce. 3 Parks recommends Concerto Lambrusco, The Chook Sparkling Shiraz and Terrazze Dell’Etna Rose.
Gewurztraminer - This distinct, aromatic, rich white wine best known from Alsace, France has the perfect amount of subtle sweetness, exotic fruit and baking spice notes to complement sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce. 3 Parks recommends Jean-Baptiste Adam Les Natures from Alsace.
Chenin Blanc: We’re big fans of this vibrant, versatile variety that’s made in different styles in different regions, whether from its native Loire Valley or New World regions like South Africa. Chenin Blanc is a fantastic food wine. Check out our favorite ways to pair it at the Thanksgiving table.
Savennieres or Saumur - This dry, lively, structured Chenin from the Loire Valley would pair with a variety of savory, salty dishes like stuffing and green bean casserole. 3 Parks recommends Domaine des Hauts Sanzier Saumur or Damien Laureau La Petite Roche Savennieres.
Vouvray - This off-dry Chenin Blanc from the Vouvray appellation in Loire Valley is balanced with prominent acidity combined with delicate sweetness that would be bangin’ with pumpkin pie, crab dip or seafood casserole. 3 Parks recommends Champalou Vouvray.
South African - South Africa makes lovely Chenin Blanc in a somewhat richer, riper style than its French birthplace, making it a wonderful match for turkey and cranberry sauce. 3 Parks recommends Protea.
Viognier - Viognier is a great full-bodied white for fall and winter with stone fruit and floral notes that would go well with rich comfort food like roasted root vegetables, baked brie with fruit and nuts, mashed potatoes & gravy and mac & cheese. 3 Parks recommends Melville from California. We’re also in love with St. Fleur by Triennes from Provence as well as Darioush from California.
For reds at Thanksgiving, we’re going with light, bright and juicy with the right amount of earthy and herbal notes for some nice complexity - wonderful for turkey, versatile enough for a range of dishes on the Thanksgiving table, and good enough to enjoy on their own.
Trousseau - We love this grape as an alternative to the classic pinot and gamay go-tos.The Jura is a really cool region in Northeastern France that produces very interesting, unique wines, including wines made from the Trousseau grape in Arbois. Arbois is usually very light with a great see-through ruby color and a trademark charming funk. We also recommend The Eyrie Vineyards from Willamette Valley, Oregon - the first to make Trousseau in that region.
Pinot - We love Pinot Noir for the holidays because it’s a wonderful combination of bright, elegant and earthy, which makes for a great food-friendly wine. Try the beautiful Arterberry Maresh from Dundee Hills, Oregon, Smoke Tree from Sonoma, or splurge on one of our Premiur Cru Burgundys.
Gamay - A classic Turkey Wine, this light, juicy, low-tannin red is downright gulpable and the star grape of the Beaujolais region just below Burgundy. There are the simple, extremely easy-drinking Beaujolais Nouveau released in time for the holidays, village-level Boujolais of great quality and all the way to serious Cru Beaujolais that can stand up to many top notch Burgundys. 3 Parks recommends Laurence & Remi Dufaitre’s Premices.
Pinot AND Gamay - For a twist on these classic Thanksgiving varietals, try them blended together from the Loire Valley from acclaimed producer Henri Bourgeois. Their “Solissime” is light and easy-drinking, displaying notes of cranberry and herbs like rosemary, perfect for Turkey Day.
